Photog Craig Ferguson has taken some cool photos of the strange hotel/pod development in San-zhr in Taiwan. The development was built in the 60’s and eventually abandoned, so the shots have a real post apocalyptic creepy feel to them. Check ‘em out.
Cool skates
27 05 2008Usually art is screenprinted onto skateboard decks. While this works well and produces beautiful product, the folks over at Refill magazine have created a project where the art is actually laser cut into the wood. It’s a really interesting way to design boards, and the laser cutting actually provides a relief to the boards that is really unique. 50 boards per artist were produced, and they have some shots of the boards here.

Sometimes logos have subversive meanings.
24 04 2008Thanks to The Egotist for turning us on to this. Needless to say, it’s entertained us quite a bit this morning. It’s the new branding for the UK Office of Governmental Commerce. Hilarious.

Some new work
17 04 2008An identity project we did for a local interior designer. The idea is that the biz cards look like old wallpaper sample chips, and the envelopes were actually made from wallpaper scraps. Very cool. The backs of the biz cards were also laminated with different scraps of wallpaper. We are excited about how nicely they turned out.

Pow
31 03 2008These ads for Alka Seltzer are merely a new twist on the ol’ stop-motion-shoot-something-and-it-explodes technique, but we thought close ups of food blowing up was pretty neat-o. Funny, too, it’s an Alka Seltzer they fire thru the food. Check this link for other shots..

Better than orange juice.
18 03 2008Yep, fresher than most juices you’ll find in any store: it’s Mouth Juice! Milked straight from the chew hole. We put these bottles around high traffic Wyoming spots, Schools, and on pumps at gas stations in the state. Aside from being real cool and therefore often thefted, they seemed to be a great hit in the state and got folks talking about how nasty the habit of chewing or dipping tobacco is. Just what we were hoping would happen.

St. Jeff E’s day
17 03 2008We at Sukle want to celebrate two things today: one, well, obviously, it’s St. Paddy’s Day. Here, here for all our Irish brethren. And, the second reason is we’ve got another new member of the Sukle team!!! We’d love to welcome Jeff Euteneuer to our crew. He’s the newest addition to our Art Director arsenal, and we’re excited to have him. He’s worked at some great shops, like Factory, and been a part of some real cool work for great brands. So, welcome Jeff, and welcome green champagne. Both were enjoyed liberally this AM instead of status meeting. Gotta love Paddy’s day.

skittles once again:
12 03 2008
We’ve always found skittle ads to be pretty darn hilarious, and on point for their market of mostly younger-types, guzzling sugar and watching wacky TV. Anyway, this one gave us a kick this AM and we thank skittles for letting the folks at TBWA/Chiat Day make ads that are so strangely entertaining. Kudos. Thanks to the Egotist for pointing this one out to us.

Old bikes are neato.
10 03 2008We were shopping for a vehicle for a campaign and came across these cool old bikes. This guy finds old military stuff and renovates it, mostly vehicles. But, on top of the tanks and personnel carriers, he’s got a whole ton of world war era bikes. They are super cool military bikes, complete with pump, generator and tool kit. Just thought we’d mention ‘em because we love bikes over here at Sukle, and are very excited to break ‘em out, dust ‘em off and get to riding this spring. I also thought I’d mention that these bad boys are pretty spendy (350-400$) for a super old cruiser. They appear to be single speed tho, so they will totally fit in for all you fixed gear, single speed bike hipsters out there. check the bikes out here.

sweet.
10 03 2008So, we like to spend free time surfing Gigposters.com looking for inspiration or just something cool to ogle. Usually we find plenty on this tasty site. Today we’ll talk about the Heads of State. We like what they have going on, and really enjoy surfing their site and checking out their poster designs. Very cool. We love what they are doing with screenprinting ink and paper.

Weekly tunage
19 02 2008While surfing the Coudal site and reading up on layer tennis (cool), I navigated to one of the layer tennis guy’s sites, and thru a link there found this site. It’s some folks’ blog-type deal where you can get a weekly mix of mp3s to listen to. Personally, I am just bout to try my first mix, so I can’t currently report on the content of the material (hoping for slim amounts of death metal), but what I CAN tell you is the site is designed oh-so-nicely. And we like this.

Just lampin’
18 02 2008So, this lamp is pretty radical. Guess, like us, this artist also liked G.I. Joe growing up. Anyway, it’s a bunch of action figures glued together, and we all know action figures are cool whether you have them battling, posing or just making interesting home furnishings. Check out the post on boing boing here.
