I read on thedieline.com that General Mills had released some of it’s retro cereal boxes, which I find fabulous. Apparently they started with throwback big head boxes for some of their sugar bomb varieties, and they must have been popular, as they’ve seemingly done a few more flavors of cereal as a result. There’s a few more shots over at thedieline.com for you to look at. I’m really digging the old school wheaties box a lot, as well as this Kix box. This gets me wondering, why in the world has cereal packing design gotten so busy and terrible? It’s almost information overload, and it’s sad when you see how beautifully simple the old packages were.
