The Denver Water Toilet gets down with the moonwalk, here.
Maybe it’s time for the toilet to get a glove upgrade. I’m seeing sequins.

New Denver Water boards up!

11 09 2007

boards in effect

with the Denver Water stuff garnering such attention last year, they were really fired up to continue it again this year. If you haven’t been following, it’s the Use Only What You Need Stuff. So, this year we tried a “floating” billboard, to really emphasize the concept, as well as took some notes from the kids these days, and their skills on the text message front. They’ve sure learned to only use the letters they need, so we thought we’d morph that into some conservation messages and create boards and bus ads in this vein. Ch-Ch-check it.

Congrats Denver

phpThumbYay for Denver. We just saw on the list of top 15 sustainable cities in the country we’re ranking #9. Nice work Denver and nice work Denver Water.

Boxed Water

24 03 2009

picture-3

It’s world water week, so this caught my eye. Love the packaging, love the concept, love the lack of plastic, but…hmm. Maybe it’s the work we’ve done recently for the Tap Project, or maybe it’s that Denver Water is a client, but in the past few months I’ve felt fortunate to enjoy my water straight from the tap. Haven’t keeled over yet.

This is pretty though:

From http://www.boxedwaterisbetter.com/

About 90% of the Boxed Water container is made from renewable resources, trees, which are sourced from certified, ethically managed forests. The package shape and material means the boxes can be shipped flat to the water plant. Because more boxes can fit in a truck than bottles, Boxed Water requires fewer truckloads and, thus, less carbon expenditure.

Big letters

23 03 2010

What is it about big letters? Why are they so charming and attractive to us creative types? While I have no real answer to these musings, I can tell you that we’re all pretty happy to have the letters from the Denver Water channel letters billboard in-house. Now, as to what they get used for, well that’s another question. We’ve got all sorts of schemes as to how they should be used until DW needs them again. I’m voting for “You need us” on the roof of Sukle or me stealing the A and the D (my initials). I’m guessing the former will be much more warmly received around here. If you have any better suggestions, lets us know.

New post its

2 03 2010

Post it notes line the pages of our Advertising and Design annuals. We constantly cruise these books of greatness and stick labels on pages we like, which means they get pretty darn full of random notes and papers. These grass blade versions of the ol’ standby would be a great improvement, and I know somehow there’s a great idea in them for our client, Denver Water. We focus a lot of our energy on trying to educate people about watering their grass properly, as outdoor watering accounts for 50% of total household water use. These guys could play into that in some sort of a guerrilla advertising sort of way. Maybe you’ll see them in our next campaign? Check them out here.

Apparently, Europeans seem to like our work.

russian outdoor mag

Well, we’re always happy to see our stuff in publications, no matter what part of the world they come from. So, we’re happy to see our Denver Water conveyor belts in the Russian mag Outdoor. Funny, but the conveyor is obviously not outdoors, right? Seems like the article is actually about indoor media, and we’re really happy to be featured on the cover and in this story. Thanks, Outdoor! (ps-wow, the river sure looks green in this image)

Well, folks, it’s that time of year again. And what time is that you ask? Use Only What You Need time! The microsite just got re-launched last week and there’s officially some free t-shirt action going on. Go to useonlywhatyouneed.org and order one up. If you’re a Denver resident, that is. Only Denver zip codes can have the freebies sent to them. Sorry if you’re out of the Denver Water service area. Stay tuned for more fun (and free) shirt designs and please get a yard sign to show everyone else on your street that you pledge allegiance to the orange and white (signs are free, too). Feel free to forward this site to anyone else you know in Denver who likes free stuff and saving water, as well.

This year’s TV and Outdoor work coming soon.

BUILDOUT!

Sukle Advertising & Design is expanding! We begin buildout of the back half of our building mid December and are very excited to see how it turns out. Some of us are looking much forward to moving our second homes (our desks) to the new space. We are working with Semple Brown, who did the front of the building, and Sprung Construction, who did all our barrel installations for Denver Water.

Keep your eyes out for new Sukleites and new Sukle projects on the horizon.

Dry t-shirt contest

22 07 2008

Hey, it’s a dry climate, right? As far as we can tell, saving any moisture is a step in the right direction (make every drop count!). Whether it falls from the sky or your armpit, it’s all valuable. Hence, the sponge shirt. Get yourself one, FOR FREE, if you have a Denver Water service address, at UseOnlyWhatYouNeed.org. Go to the freebies section. There some other free stuff there, and another shirt design to come still.

More UOWYN

17 07 2008

Here’s some Denver Water boards we posted this summer. We’ve still at least another to post as it runs, so keep checking back, it should be up very soon. For some of these we wanted to introduce some simple conservation tips, such as not watering between 10am and 6pm. Or, in the case of the boxer shorts, wear your stuff until it stinks (and flip it inside out and reverse it) before you wash it again (much to the chagrin of your spouse). The pruned hand hints at shorter showers instead of baths.

Harmony in using what you need

17 07 2008

Our Use Only What You Need campaigns have in the past really worked in Denver. Denver Water had a goal of lowering water use 21% in 10 years, and in just two we’ve already lowered it 20%. So, this year we spent some time re-emphasizing the base idea of using only what you need (i.e. don’t waste) on our bus tails, and our outdoor (next post or two!) focused more on some simple tips that can help lower water waste, and hopefully will get us to that magic number of 21%.

The idea with these bus tails was to simply show that your use and your need should be in harmony. Use should equal need. Period.
